{"id":1028,"date":"2008-07-19T17:33:40","date_gmt":"2008-07-19T22:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/selfinvestors.com\/tradingstocks\/ipos\/another-solar-ipo-gt-solar-solr-to-debut-thursday\/"},"modified":"2018-08-12T01:40:39","modified_gmt":"2018-08-12T06:40:39","slug":"another-solar-ipo-gt-solar-solr-to-debut-thursday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/selfinvestors.com\/tradingstocks\/ipos\/another-solar-ipo-gt-solar-solr-to-debut-thursday\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Solar IPO: GT Solar (SOLR) To Debut Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/selfinvestors.com\/tradingstocks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/gt%20solar%20solr%20ipo1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 15px 10px 0px 0px; border-right-width: 0px\" height=\"42\" alt=\"gt solar solr ipo\" src=\"http:\/\/selfinvestors.com\/tradingstocks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/gt%20solar%20solr%20ipo_thumb1.gif\" width=\"175\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>This week,&#160; the IPO market will get a bit of boost in what has been a lackluster year for exciting&#160; companies coming to market.&#160; This week, <a href=\"http:\/\/uk.reuters.com\/article\/oilRpt\/idUKN1640613720080718?pageNumber=1&amp;virtualBrandChannel=10171\" target=\"_blank\">GT Solar, a New Hampshire maker of solar cell manufacturing equipment,&#160; is expected to begin trading under the ticker symbol SOLR<\/a>.&#160; Sure, there are far too many solar companies right now and this sector is overdue for a shakeout of buyouts, blowups and mergers but in this environment&#160; it&#8217;s good to see any company generating a profit come to market and GT Solar is certainly doing that with revenues and profits exploding over the past year, allowing the company to turn its first profit.&#160; I like the fact that they are a &quot;pick and shovel&quot; play in the industry providing a complete turnkey solution with equipment and expertise to allow solar manufacturers to get up and running quickly. <\/p>\n<p>This is a company growing rapidly with a big backlog of $1.3 billion, but with 60% of its business coming from one customer it&#8217;s not a company that&#8217;s well diversified so carries considerable risk.&#160; Also, none of the proceeds from the IPO will go to the company, but rather the investors.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>I suggest reading the two analysis articles below for more in depth details on the company.&#160; As I do with all IPO&#8217;s I&#8217;ll let it trade for at least two weeks allowing it time to carve out a bullish technical formation.&#160; <\/p>\n<p>A few links of interest:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"Your clipboard has been temporarily disabled while you are viewing the roadshow presentation.
