What's This?

Current Market Strategy

  • (4.27.2008)After a more than 10% rise off those March lows I believe it's time to begin getting more conservative and taking some profit off the table, especially if a big distribution day appears
(4.9.2008)I think we're still in good shape for the possibility of another big rally attempt as the market appears to be coiling the spring for another leg up.
(2.26.2008) There's no question the character of this market is beginning to change to the bullish side of the coin, but as far as I'm concerned this is still a bear market and it still pays to be careful. That means initiating smaller positions than you normally would, not chasing stocks and cutting losses quickly.
(1.22.2008) Massive capitulation marks a bottoming area but that doesn't mean we can't come back and test the lows. This is still a bear market with no leadership. Extreme caution still urged.
(1.9.2008) There isn't any other way to say it. Yes, this is officially a bear market. Play accordingly.
(12.9.2007) Don't be greedy, it's just that easy. The market sustained significant technical damage during the latter half of October and the first few weeks of November. Consider the 7% retracement of that sell off over just the past 2 weeks a gift, offering a 2nd chance to lighten the load on the long side.
(11.7.2007) I believe at this point you have to have the mindset that the October highs are a long term top and that it will be several months AT LEAST before we see those levels again. There will certainly be many highly profitable shorter term trades along the way, but to remain 100% invested with a "hold" strategy at this point in my opinion is a very big mistake.
(10.16.2007) The technical action indicates a top at least in the short term and further deterioration ahead. Preserve capital and lock in any profits sooner.
